Ah February, some know it as the month of love, I know it as the shortest month of the year. But the shortest month doesn't mean the shortest amount of movies & boy, do I have a lot to talk about. Just like last time, I won't be mentioning any 2017 leftovers. If you want to know how I feel about them, The Shape Of Water looks amazing. Anyway, here are the films that could have the potential to take over my calendar instead of Valentine's Day.

Looks like the month will be kicked off with an action film & unfortunately, it's one that isn't catching my attention. I have no idea if the main characters are cops or criminals & to make matters worse, the film looks completely generic. I would like the film to prove me wrong, but a trip to the cinema is not gonna happen.

Helen Mirren in a horror movie, who knew? From what I've seen in the trailers, there's a 50/50 chance that we'll get an interesting spin on the genre or a generic jump scare marathon. I seriously hope it's the former because I'm always routing for good horror movies & there's always a chance that a future classic is released each year.

Now it's time to delve into some world cinema for this month & to kick things off, here's a film that looks like it's combining romance with tension. It sounds like an unusual combo & I might see it just to see if it is pulled off well. I'm not extremely excited, but I am curious on how it will turn out.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! This.....is.......the worst idea for a movie period. It's so bad, I can't stop laughing. If you don't know what this film is about, it's about a man who's ElvenKingBeGigglinplz social media posts come trueLaughing Leni 2 this is so stupid. It's so fascinatingly bad that putting it on my worst of the year list won't even come off as harsh.

The Fifty Shades franchise is something that I've never understood. I just don't get how a film with wooden chemistry & an endorsement of sexual abuse can be considered ideal viewing for a ladies night out. But that didn't stop the film from being a hit at the box office & thus we got the sequels. I will continue the past traditions by refusing to watch this film under any circumstances, but I can't help but wonder if Universal is trying to get rid of this franchise because of the shorter waiting time.

Clint Eastwood is known as both a celebrated actor & a beloved director. For his latest film, he's giving us another militaristic true story about real life heroes. I do see the potential for a gripping action thriller........but I really don't want another American Sniper on my hands. Hey, don't look at me like that, I don't like American Sniper, DEAL WITH IT!!!

Colin Firth is the latest celebrity to put himself through hell in a boat after Robert Redford & Tom Hanks & his choice of film looks amazing. The director of The Theory Of Everything is already promising, but if this film lives up to its emotional expectations, then we could get something truly special. I have no idea who the man this true story is focusing on, but this film could get me talking about him for the rest of my days if it makes a tremendous impact. So I better hope it does.

Well, this just came out of nowhere. Cloverfield used to be its own standalone monster horror movie that incorporated the annoying found footage gimmick, but now it's become a franchise relying solely on brand recognition. As far as this film is concerned, I don't know how to feel about it. It's giving me a lot of Alien vibes & it's got the chance to be either mindless fun or a generic dud. If I watch it, the chances of enjoyment will be put to the test, so it's a wait & see.

Looks like it's not just America giving us some militaristic action films. I have no idea if this film will turn out to be spectacular, but the trailer sure is promising such spectacle with stylish looking shots & a kick-ass soundtrack. Overall, I'm optimistic, but I don't know if I'll see it in theatres. After all, I don't live in cities where there are cinemas that gleefully show international films.

Oh hell YES!!! The 2018 superhero movie library is finally here & what better way to kick it off than the masters running the Marvel Cinematic Universe. T'Challa is a character I'm familiar with through comics & cartoons, but my excitement is purely based on his fantastic debut in Captain America: Civil War. There's no denying that I will see it instantly & I can already tell I'm going to enjoy it because Marvel Studios can do no wrong.

Ever since his last theatrical film flopped, Duncan Jones (son of the late great David Bowie) is moving to Netflix. I remember Source Code being good & my dad adores Moon, so I have high hopes for this flick. The trailer already promises an incredible film & I like the fact that the main character is what people refer to as a mute. Let's just hope it doesn't screw up.

A film whose main character has a speech impediment. Why am I not surprised that America didn't pick up such a project. Out of all the BollyWood flicks in the month, this is the one I'm looking forward to the most. It seems to have the right balance between delightfully comedic & emotionally serious & all of this really makes me wish I had a chance to see international films in cinemas because I always feel like I'm missing out.

Now it's time for a Netflix film that looks like it's cramming in as many drama elements as humanly possible. I'm not joking, the trailer has loads of elements that will try to manipulate audiences into sheading tears. It might work, it might not, all I know is that I'll just have to wait & see.

I don't know if it's just me, but it feels like it's been a long time since we saw Nicolas Cage in anything. But now he's back in a thriller that could either end up good or bad. At the moment, I'm unsure on how the end result could turn out, so I might wait until it's released on streaming services.

I honestly don't know how to feel about this one. The premise of a time travelling lover boy reminds me a lot of About Time, but upon reacting to the trailer.......it looks like it's destined to be an awful & annoying comedy, yet the trailer is executed in an enjoyable & quirky manner. I might watch this film anyway, but my initial reaction to the film is probably going to be unpredictable.

A few years ago, Alex Garland gave us Ex Machina, a rare sci-fi film in the modern age that makes audiences think while watching it. Now, he's giving us an unusual-looking blockbuster where the laws of nature are being screwed over. I have no idea if this film will live up to the massive hype that surrounded Ex Machina, but this film could work. I have a bit of faith in it & critical acclaim would just about be enough to make me happy.

In January, Netflix gave us a funny true story. In February, they're giving us a serious true story. 2017 was a year that ended with a series of sexual harassment accusations that are still going as I speak. This documentary looks like it's treating the subject with the right amount of seriousness & I think this film is going to be incredible. When it hits Netflix, there is no guarantee that I will watch it & love it.

So that's all we've got for February 2018. There's honestly not a lot to get me truly excited as most of the films have been in the 50/50 wait & see category. But there are some in my most anticipated category & here they are:
1: Black Panther
2: Seeing Allred
3: Hichki
4: The Mercy
Anyway, join me next time when we will witness the butchering of a British clsssic, some Tokusatsu mayhem, a pop-culture-filled virtual reality & a trash island populated by sick canines.
